Tiger Salamander

Ambystoma tigrinum

Description:

Salamanders are awesome.

Notes:

It tried to cross the concrete and I think it was too cold. The high today was 46 degrees. It wasn't able to move. I picked it up and put it under some wet, warmer leaves near a swamp. I hope that was the right thing to do!

A spotted salamander has two rows of spots down the back and that is it. This is a tiger salamander, they have blotches on the back and sides and sometimes those blotches are round and can be easily confused for a spotted salamander!
