Six-Rays Star Coral

Madracis senaria

Description:

Photo take at -40 ft in a Caribbean reef, this very common coral in all the Caribbean sea. Colonies are mainly encrusting, rising sometimes into mounds. Corallites are much more widely separated than in other encrusting Madracis species. It has six primary septa, which are prominent.Colours are generally from bright green to chocolate brown.

Habitat:

Found from Florida all the Caribbean sea to Brazil. from shallow waters around 14 mt to a depth around 30 mt.
