Northern Elephant Seal

Mirounga angustirostris

Description:

Large blubbery marine mammals that can dive up to five thousand feet and stay under water for up to two hours. They stay in the water for eight to ten months.

Habitat:

The Northern Elephant Seal lives mainly in the open ocean and only spends two to four months out of the water for mating, rearing young and molting.
