Este gavilán, mide 56 cm. y pesa 800 grs. Se alimentan de cangrejos, asi como de reptiles, ranas, huevos y neonatos de tortugas, aveces de carroña. Saltan sobre su presa desde una rama baja.

Manglares, ríos y playas
