spotted near water in tropical rainforest, China (S Yunnan, SE Xizang = Tibet) Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, India (Darjeeling, Andaman and Nicobar Islands), Bangladesh, Myanmar, Cambodia, N Thailand, Vietnam, Sunda region, Peninsular Malaysia, New Guinea

This little guy was snooping around my tent in Sai Yok National Park when I took these photos. The bright one is with the flash.

Thanks Gee for correcting me. A guide at the park gave me the ID, I should have done more research to confirm it as correct.

I am unsure about the common name. Both Wikipedia and eol.org use "Spotted Forest Skink" but I know it as the "Streamside Skink", based on the book "A Photographic Guide to Snakes and Other Reptiles of Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore"

Mabuya multifasciata is a large, chunky skink with no black band down its sides. See here: http://eol.org/pages/791549/overview
