I got no idea what this could be. But it is clear that it shed skin or morphed into something and would love to get some more info. This was taken in lyndenburg

Hi Godfrey, it is most likely the exoskeleton of a cicada (sonbesie) after a moult. When I stayed in Ellisras I once watched the whole process over a few hours and this was what was left.
