It looks more like the brown tree snake and it's about 1hrs drive from the qld border

I think it's a brown tree snake (boiga irregularis) http://www.wildlifeqld.com.au/Brown_Tree.... My husband thinks it's a carpet python (morelia spilota variegata) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morelia_spi.... Markings vary in both these species.

It seem to be the wrong shape for a tiger snake - tigers are shorter and thicker through the body. It's probably some sort of python but it's really hard to ID without a shot of the head.
