Almost ran into this little lady while mountain biking. I can't recall seeing an Eastern box turtle/or at least one this colorful in 40+ years living in New England. I believe it's a female based on reading about eye-color as an indicator. I picked her up to move her; she"squeaked" a warning, then pulled her underside closed to cover her head–very cool!
