Bull moose in willows
high meadow thick with willows at about 10,000 feet in the Colorado Rockies.
4 large bull moose spent part of the summer near the popular Brainard Lake, at the edge of Indian Peaks Wilderness. They are not tame, but totally unconcerned by the hundreds of cars and people passing within 10 or 20 feet of them. About one week after this photo, one of the 4 moose was legally killed by a bowhunter while dozens of onlookers watched. Legal yes, but not very sporting, like shooting a car in a parking lot from 20 feet away.
