A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Kalanchoe prolifera
40-50cm tall
Found growing along the path to the Kathok Gompa in Yuksom village. Probably cultivated by the temple community.
Here's what the president of the San Diego Horticultural Society sent me on this plant:
"It is a kalanchoe. It has taken over whole landscapes in Hawaii. It usually doesn't look like the photo. This one is stressed. I can give you lots of babies if you want some. It isn't invasive here since it needs regular water. It can get 6 feet tall. Plantlets form on the old bloom stalk."
I haven't given you a very good reference on this because I'm pretty sure it is a cultivar, not a plant that grows in the wild, so the only stuff I could find was from nurseries.
