Thomisidae xysticus (family & genus; unknown species)

Description:

body 7 mm; all one color dark reddish brown, mottled indistinct markings, kind of a "squatty" body with very little definition in parts; body and legs looked flat as a pancake, maybe a little bumpy abdomen; crab-like; front 2 legs longer

Habitat:

urban schoolyard; this spider crawled out from a pile of leaves students collected to study
