Anagallis arvensis
Trailing weed with rows of three triangular leaves. Each row is about 3 cm apart. At each leaf, there are three orange flowers on the ends of slender peduncles that extend beyond the leaves. "Scarlet pimpernel has weak sprawling stems growing to about 50 cm long, which bear bright green ovate sessile leaves in opposite pairs. The small orange, red or blue flowers are produced in the leaf axils from spring to autumn. The petal margins are somewhat crenate and have small glandular hairs." - Wikipedia
Backyard next to a type of Asparagus fern. This is not native to California.
Wow, we've had Pimpernel in the yard before but I guess it just hasn't got this l o n g. I didn't recognize it. Thank you for the ID!
Thank you too Sachin
:) Thank you Viv. I call it weed because I didn't plant it and it's a bit invasive but I think it's pretty. I'm so happy you appreciate my plants and my photography!
Even the weeds look pretty with great photography . Native plants and weeds are overlooked so often which is such a shame because the detail in some is incredible. Well done Cindy!
