Brown recluse?

loxosceles reclusa

Description:

I would say Brown Recluse, but the spider was quite large (the body was over 1" long, legs spread to cover most of my palm)... found indoors.

Habitat:

Normally, small, dark places.

Notes:

This spider was extremely aggressive - it responded to me shutting the door from across the room and faced off with me when I approached it. Did not have time to switch to my macro lens for a better shot...

This does look like a brown recluse & they can grow to 2" across including legs. There is another possibility - the crevice spider, Kukulcania hibernalis http://bugguide.net/node/view/617427/bgi... but I'm leaning towards brown recluse because this has the more rounded abdomen of that species. BRs are rarely aggressive, (as their name suggests they are usually pretty shy) & most BR bites occur because they like to hide out in bed sheets, towels & among clothing in closets.
