Elephan Hawk-moth

Deilephila elpenor

Description:

Also known as Elephant Hawk-moth. A real beauty with soft colours. They're about 50-70 mm long and their caterpillars come in green and brown colour. They got "eyes" on their back to look like little snakes.

Habitat:

The caterpillars can be found in summer days on willowherb (Epilobium) and bedstraw (Galium). They it will also take fuchsias.

Notes:

This one slept the whole winter as a pupa in my garage and in June it was a beautiful model.
