Description:

Iris versicolor, also commonly known as the Harlequin Blueflag, Larger Blue Flag, Northern Blue Flag, and other variations of those names, is a species of Iris native to North America where it is common in sedge meadows, marshes, and along streambanks and shores.

Habitat:

Sugar Hollow Park, wetlands area. Swamp with small stream, woodlands, and fields nearby.

Notes:

Located at several points in the wetlands area. Virginia is on the southern most limit of it's natural range.
