Persimmon Tree

Diospyros virginiana L

Description:

Perennial tree that bears small fruits. Dicot.

Habitat:

Woods, seem to be on the outside of the wood line.

Notes:

Fruits are astringent. I have heard they can be good if you wait until they almost look rotten. However, the one time I tried one it made my mouth feel like it was turned inside out. Wasn't a good experience. Will not be eating another. The wildlife seem to love them. Teresa Dove
