Red Striped Cucumber

Diplocyclos palmatus

Description:

Growing close to the ground. Red and round, like a tomato, but with stripes in white and pale green.

Habitat:

Hidden in the undergrowth under tall trees at the Chinatamani Kar Bird Sanctuary. I would have passed it by but caught a glimpse of the red colour amidst the browns and the greens...so I knelt down and poked my camera through some intervening leaves...fearing nettles all the while. Just got these two snaps.
