Description:

The Pequi (Caryocar brasiliense; Caryocaraceae) is a tree native to the Brazilian cerrado, whose fruit, although widely used in the kitchen Northeast, Goias, Mato Grosso and northern Minas Gerais, Goias is typically considered. It is extracted an oil called oil pequi. Its fruits are also eaten boiled, either alone or along with rice and chicken. His stone is endowed with many thorns, and there is need for very careful when chewing the fruit, avoiding crimped teeth in it, which can cause serious injury to the gums. The flavor and aroma of the fruits are very striking and peculiar. Can be stored both in essence and preserved.
