Hi Christian. Your snake has to be either a Rough Greensnake or a Smooth Greensnake. I based the choice on the maps on the link I sent. It lists all the snakes of Virginia and you can click on each one. The smooth snake has more scales than the rough, but from the maps, it doesn't appear the Smooth Greensnake is found in your area. Good catch. They move fast.
