Tradescantia ohiensis

Description:

Flowers of T. ohiensis are in cluster with one opening at a time. For each flower there forms a seed pod maturing a a different time. You can see the differing stages of the pods.

Notes:

T. ohiensis is used in prairie restoration projects. Each bloom lasts only one day and the seed matures over time making seed collection difficult.
