Painted stork

Mycteria leucocephala

Description:

A large colorful bird with distinctive black and white patterned feathers.

Habitat:

Water lands. I found this one at Sewri. It was sitting with its back towards me at a distance of 100 meters or so. Then it took flight and disappeared behind the shrubbery.

Notes:

I must thank the fellow spotter who told me the identity of this bird at the watching point. Too bad that I don't even know him to thank him.
