Odocoileus virginianus
This White-tailed Deer fawn was in my front yard under a pine tree this morning. I stood about 30 feet away and zoomed in with my camera for this picture. Later in the morning, I looked out the window and saw the fawn nursing. Then, mother and child crossed our driveway into the tall grass towards the woods.
Our property has a mix of older growth woods and new growth woods, grassy areas (both mowed and unmowed), and two springfed ponds.
The man who mows our hay found two fawns earlier this week in the hay and moved them to the woods adjacent. Not sure if this is one of them, but it probably is.

Great Spotting! Please consider adding this spotting to the mammals of the south eastern USA mission.
Beautiful capture of your spotting and a wonder story as well. Welcome to Project Noah
Thanks, KarenL. This is great fun! How nice that you're from Tennessee also.
How lovely! We have white-tail deer in the woods adjacent to our property but I've not seen any fawns yet this year.
Welcome to the Community Nancy, it's good to meet another Tennessean!
Nice photos! And thanks so much for not kidnapping the fawn. Mother dear park the fawns and go off to feed. They later return to their babies to care for them. This is normal behavior for the deer. But too many people see what they believe to be an abandoned fawn and try to 'save' it.
Fantastic pics, the cutest!!!
