Italian Wall Lizard

Podarcis sicula

Description:

I saw many of these Italian Wall Lizards at a local bird sanctuary, and even in the gardens of the surrounding neighborhood. They sit very still, and blend in well. I wouldn't notice them until we were too close. They would skitter off, drawing my attention. This was the only one who retreated to a spot where I could still photograph him.

Habitat:

Wildlife Preserve / Stormwater Basin
