Texas Brown Tarantula

Aphonopelma hentzi

Description:

Large brown and black tarantula spider; also called the Oklahoma Brown Tarantula. This female was about 3 inches (7.5 cm) long.

Habitat:

Crossing road through open fields.

Notes:

She was so large, we could see her in the rearview mirror from 50 meters down the road! We backed up, took pictures, and relocated her to the roadside so she wouldn't get hit by another car.
