I know these guys are miserable I wanted to go for a nice hike this morning and I could barely make it a few miles.

There has been quite a prolific amount of these guys here. The mild winter and semi moist spring conditions have proven quite beneficial to the deer flies as well as many others. These are vicious little guys and will buzz around your head till they find a nice spot of exposed skin to land on and bite. (generally around the hair line or in my case due to hair loss on the top of my head if I am not wearing a hat)! LOL
