Female laying eggs in the middle of a trail.
@ Brushwood Folklore Center - came across her while hiking one of the trails. Credit T. DeGruyl for photo (stupid me did not have camera or phone in hand)

Right in the middle of the trail. My bigger concern was the clay soil. It was wet when she was laying, but when we went back two days later, it was all dried out and we couldn't find the spot. So I hope it's not like a rock when they hatch.
Right alongside the trail, huh? Great find! I hope the eggs stay intact if that they're close to people.
