Didelphis virginiana
Skeleton from a small mammal. The nose is long and pointed. The fur was gray and tan. The last image shows the size compared to my size 9 US (40 European) shoe.

Great photos! @Emma ~ Any idea why people sell their teeth?!
Great teamwork! I've just updated the spotting. Thank you!
Wow! Another great spotting! Thanks Cindy! You found our opossum...lol! I'm pretty sure this is indeed a opossum. The location of the spotting seems to fit with the opossum's range in California! It must be a juvenile because it is so darn small! Very cool!

For comparision.
BTW they sell oppossum teeth for 3 dollars /bag.
Opossums have 50 teeth:
1/2 of upper jaw: 5 incisors, 1 canine, 3 premolars, and 4 molars.
1/2 of bottom jaw: 4 incisors, 1 canine, 3 premolars, 4 molars.
Emma you're so funny. Thank you. I got them on clearance and I love green! :)
Thank you! It definitely could be an Opossum. The nose and fur seem right for it. I'm not familiar with the teeth though. I'll look into it in a bit.
nice shoes! :)
Could this be a young opossum?
Very cool spotting Cindy! :-)
