Net-casting Spider

Deinopis longipes

Description:

About 5cm long. A nocturnal spide that throws a specially constructed net over its prey. Also known as the Ogre Faced Spider.

Habitat:

Lowland wet rainforest, Barra del Colorado Wildlife Refuge, near Cano Palma

Notes:

http://rmbr.nus.edu.sg/nis/bulletin2009/... Believe it's Deinopis longipes but not 100% so left it at sp. Could this explain Spiderman's modus operandi?

Hi Sarah - the net was white, the blue effect is just from the combination of shadow, torch-light and flash.
