Field poppy/Poljski mak

Papaver rhoeas

Description:

Red 4-leaved flower, rich seads, thin and long hairy stem, which is quite rough if you touch it. On these pictures you can mostly see its buds, so the flower is still closed. On second picture you can see a half of its flower and its seeds and on the last picture you can also see poppy's capsule.

Habitat:

I found them on manure piles near forest.

Notes:

They make sweet dishes out of its seeds in Slovenia. One of them is called "makova potica". If you use it for medical purposes, you have to be very careful-best if somebody who knows about it, like a doctor, helps you. It is said to help with stomach spasms, intestines, bile and urinary tract.
