Grove or Brown-lipped Snail

Cepaea nemoralis

Description:

Introduced species of snail originally from Europe. Large amount of color variation. Has established itself in areas in the USA.

Habitat:

Back yard gardens. Suburban area.

Notes:

We had a rain storm today and all of the snails were out in the yard. We have a ton of these guys everywhere. They are very pretty, though I'm not sure exactly how much damage they might be doing to the plants in the garden.

Oh my gosh! I have heard of those snails but I didn't realize they were in Florida (though it doesn't surprise me with all of the invasive and introduced species they have there). Holy giant snails!

An invasive I wasn't aware of. Have you heard of these guys in Florida?
