Also read that Pickerel Frog has distinctive rectangular spots and may blend together to form a long rectangle along the back. All leopard frogs have circular spots

Hey Mark. I think this one is a Southern Leopard Frog (Rana sphenocephala). If it were a Pickerel, the spots on the back would be much bigger and easier to see in your photo. The Plains Leopard Frog looks just like the Southern Leopard Frog except the Plains variety has dorsolateral folds that break-up as they reach the groin (see my spotting of R. blairi here: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/601...). On the Southern Leopard Frog, the folds run straight down to the groin in a solid line, which is what I see here in this photo. Nice spotting!
