Yellow Avalanche Lily

Erythronium grandiflorum

Description:

Sparse,bulb like, 1 pair of leaves-narrow to broad oblong. Solitary plants with a one to three yellow flower on a long stem curved down at the top to resemble a shooting star. Filaments mostly brown and stamen lite cream to white. 6 petals The bulbs are edible. Also a food source for bears.

Habitat:

High Elevation, mountain meadows and slopes

Notes:

Spotted these on Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic Cascades.
