Chinese Mantid

Description:

It is a very long and slender insect. Usually 5 inches in length. It is mostly brown but with two stripes of green at its sides.

Habitat:

Lives in areas of vegetation. i.e. bushes, shrubs, meadows, and flowers.

Notes:

As the name implies, it is not native to the US. It was introduced as biological pest control. They are now found in most of the US do to the availability to their eggs. They are also carnivorous and eat many animals such as other insects and even hummingbirds
