A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
At 5:30 p.m. in the late afternoon, I opened the front door. I looked down, and I saw a small insect, moving all around, on the front step, which is right below, the front door. This insect, was about one fourth of an inch long. This insect, was a weevil. This weevil, had a straight-snout, and two antennae. This weevil, had six, jointed legs. The color of this weevil, was black and different shades of gray. The two antennae, and the six jointed legs, was black. This was a: " straight-snout weevil ". Order: Coleoptera Family: Brentidae. Brentidae, is a cosmopolitan family of xylophagous beetles, also known as: " straight-snouted weevils ". They are among the families of weevils, that have non-elbowed antennae.
They are most diverse in the tropics, but occur throughout the temperate regions of the world.
I spotted this small weevil, moving all around on the front step, of my house, at 5:30 p.m. in the late afternoon.,
