Long-legged Fly

Dolichopodidae

Description:

Did not have time to fully identify this small fly. It is on a large Hibiscus leaf and had a metallic green cast. They are generally small flies with large, prominent eyes and a metallic cast to their appearance, though considerable variation is observed. Most have long legs, though some do not.

Habitat:

The garden is about half an acre of native plants specifically planted for wildlife. The main water source is a pond that is filtered by two gravel streams. It is on a peninsula by Lake Lewisville.
