Pinktoe Tarantula

Avicularia avicularia

Description:

Large, hairy spider; black in colour with a purplish sheen and a pale patch at the tip of its legs, which give it its name.

Habitat:

Rainforest in the Ecuadorian Amazon region. This one was actually just outside of Tena, at the hostel I was staying. It lived in a folded over leaf, which it had sealed with silk.
