Buteo jamaicensis
Large Hawks with very broad, rounded wings and a short, wide tail. They are a rich brown above and pale below, with a streaked belly. Upperside tail is cinnamon red. Juveniles have a striped belly band. Mated pairs usually stay together.
This pair flew in and landed on a tree above a wetland meadow. They sat briefly then took off to return to the woodland edge.

Thank you Marta :)
Nice spotting, gatorfellows!
Thanks Maria, I was very excited. Polite of them to look into the lens :)
Very cool to have spotted a pair!
I saw your red shouldered - wonderful spotting. This is the first I have seen two of theses big hawks sitting and flying together. It was the highlight of my day birding. :)
What a beautiful pair. Different in color than their western counterparts!
