Red-tailed Hawk (pair)

Buteo jamaicensis

Description:

Large Hawks with very broad, rounded wings and a short, wide tail. They are a rich brown above and pale below, with a streaked belly. Upperside tail is cinnamon red. Juveniles have a striped belly band. Mated pairs usually stay together.

Habitat:

This pair flew in and landed on a tree above a wetland meadow. They sat briefly then took off to return to the woodland edge.

I saw your red shouldered - wonderful spotting. This is the first I have seen two of theses big hawks sitting and flying together. It was the highlight of my day birding. :)

What a beautiful pair. Different in color than their western counterparts!
It is a joy to spot hawks! i saw a pair of red shouldered recently .
