Red-wattled Lapwing

Description:

Red bill, yellow legs. Dark gray wings, top of head, front of neck and part of chest is black. There is a broad white band descending from the side of the face to the lower belly.

Habitat:

Commonly seen. This one was on the lawns of a Stepwell in Patan, Gujarat.

Notes:

Very loud call...Did you do it. It has a funny way of moving when it spots you...it walks a few steps, freezes and eyes you uncertainly; then resumes the movement, freezes and stares again.
