Description:

This is a hemipteran insect approximately 3.5 cm long. They are usually called lantern bugs, although they do not produce light. They feed on the sap of various types of plants, some related species are considered pests, this individual was found in a Simarouba sp tree.

Habitat:

Rain forest.

Notes:

a group of 6 were found in the same tree
