Hibiscus schizopetalus
Top part is around size of fist, found on tree (second image). The carpel and the stamen are at the very bottom (the whole flower is upside-down) No fruit, (that I noticed) and bottom section very similar to a hibiscus.
-sunny area, on edge of rainforest -secondary tropical rainforest
Awesome spotting and excellent description. Take a look at the suggestion by NuwanChathuranga (the ranger) and if you agree, change your spotting's common and scientific name!
