Description:

A female Mule Deer that was part of a small group feeding around the Zion Lodge. They have mostly finished shedding their heavy winter coats. Note the large ears and black tipped tail that are characteristic of the Mule Deer. These are the Rocky Mountain Mule Deer, Odocoileus hemionus hemionus. Family Cervidae.

Habitat:

Roadside browsing around Zion Lodge, Zion National Park, Utah.
