Jesus Christ lizard

Basiliscus plumifrons

Description:

Bright green, about 1 meter long. Distinctive double crest.

Habitat:

On bank of swampy tropical river (Río Colorado) near its mouth on Caribbean.

Notes:

Our guide told us it's called the "Jesus Christ lizard" because that's what people say when they see it. I later found out it's also because it can walk on water. It's also called the green basilisk or plumed basilisk. This one's a male, because of its crests.
