Cyanocitta cristata
Blue Jays are a large light blue and white bird about 12" with a black necklace. They have a gray belly with a white face and wing bars on a blue wing. Their blue tail has black spots and white tip.
Blue Jays are found in all kinds of forest especially near oak trees; they're more abundant near forest edges than in deep forest. They're common in urban and suburban areas. Blue Jays are a non-migrator to partial migrator bird, moving around to find a food source.
This Blue Jay was spotted at the Chippewa Picnic Area on Hwy 26, near the snow plowed parking area for cars. The Blue Jay was eating on a small deer carcass. They will eat dead and injured small vertebrates, but usually their food source is seeds, nuts, fruit, and insects.
