Maccaffertium pulchellum
Female larva M pulchellum. M pulchellum and M terminatum are easily confused by the strong black banded cross band on their legs. Separation at the larva state is done by the maculation marks on the ventral side of the 9th sternite.
Although Lewis 1974 A indicates and EBI toxicity scale level of 8, which is very polluted water, this and 30 other where collected in Bronte creek in Southern Ontario in 2012, within a very small population of Epeorus sp and if i remember correct after dissection of the Epeorus larva there where 6 forms living there. Epeorus require near perfect water quality so that does go to state that the M pulchellum are tolerant but prefer cleaner water.
