Odocoileus virginianus
Deer with spots
Fort Washington Park
This deer was in a 1700's fort food prep area. She may have been in labor. We're not sure why she was so isolated.
Thanks my husband has much better pictures of her. She was quite small. Small enough to have fit through the gated-off area. I was a bit concerned but she didn't seem alarmed at our discovering her.
Thanks Janet, I was not aware that they had done this. The head does look a bit more like the head of an adult rather then a fawn, so you may have the better suggestion for this spotting.
Could be a Sitka Deer. They were introduced to Maryland for hunting and for parks

Madison, your spotting is that of a white-tailed deer fawn. A fawn is a young deer which was born this spring. It will lose its spots by fall. Generally the spots will disappear by late August or very early September. I can only speculate as to the reason this fawn was spotted here. I hope its mother is safe and well, and still able to nurse this young one. Welcome to project noah.
