Wide-Jawed Viciria

Viciria praemandibularis

Description:

About 7-10mm big, smooth, found on a leaf, no web spotted. Also jumps. Called the wide jawed Viciria for its two black colored things that paralyze its prey. At first, I thought it was a scorpion or some other bug, but after further research with my partner Vikram Sharma, we realized it was a spider. We have also witnessed the spider jump from one side of the leaf to the other.

Habitat:

SAS secondary rainforest, Singapore American School, Singapore.
