Cicindela aurulenta
1.5 cm long insect with metallic colors and a beautiful design.
Thanks bayucca, Ashish and Jolly. To me it looks no different than C. aurulenta.
Second shot of EOL link looks quite similar, but for my eyes I would not dare to confirm Aurulenta.
I am not happy with Aurulenta neither. Spots are smaller than in Aurulenta and behind the head it usually have 2 spots. In Harsha's shot there is just a brownish area not distinct spots. But I do not have a suggestion of species. Himalaya area might also have some kind of "endemic" species due to the altitude.
Bayucca... This is Cicindela aurulenta specie... what is find from Europe to East Asia.
Personally I don't think this one is the same one like Ashish's Cicindela azureocincta. I am not familiar with Indian geographics but this one is endemic to western part of India, so not found in the Himalaya area and the spots and colors look different. Definitely a Tiger Beetle, Cicindela sp. but not the Azur Tiger Beetle.
Thanks willie..i only had my mobile phone to click. tried to make the best out of it. :)
