Parakeet Flower

Heliconia psittacorum

Description:

Plant opens up and stacks petals on top of each other. Red on the outside and yellow on the inside.Looks like like flower buds coming out of pedals or possibly anthers. On anthers or buds theres a green spot located near the tip of the anther of bud. Yellow stem and has no leafs. Bees pollinate the flower.

Habitat:

Lives in warm weather.Lives next to what looks like very tall grass. I found it in Singapore, or more specifically S.A.S. secondary rainforest. I also saw it on Jan. 22, 2015.

Notes:

Very common flower in Singapore.
