Phiale mimica
Jumping spider mimicking an insect, probably an ant. Positions its two front legs as if they were antennas, and looks as if it had six legs. Really funny looking, I imagined it saying "I'm an ant, I'm an ant, I'm an ant..." VIDEO!
Hi erik please just be sure to give me some credit ;). If you want you can give me your email to send you the original shots that you might need. It would be a pleasure.
Thanks chun i'm flattered! Last time I went to that spot I saw 2 or 3 of these guys, they seem to be really common on this part of my country.
I saw several mimicry insects and spiders in your page, Diaz José Miguel. This one is one of the best !
Hey Diaz José Miguel ! She must have fed on something recently and the other reason is that she must be gravid :)
Thanks Atul! I have a question before I update tthe ID, why is the abdomen way bulkier on my pic than on the pics found on the net. I would ask the same question about a phiale formosa i found http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/710...
Thanks logan, yes I thought I should put "insect mimic" spider since I dont really know this guy's name yet...
