unidentified larva

Description:

non-descript, bland-colored larva crawling along ground on west side of Potwisha Campground

Habitat:

mixed deciduous and coniferous forest on western slope of Sierra Nevada range in California

Notes:

It is not surprising that the larva is bland-colored. Bland colors do not attract any attention, including that of predators. It's protective camouflage. Spotted crawling across an ad hoc path between the campground and a nearby stream.
